Supermarket Worker Wins Compensation for Stock Room Trip

A woman has secured a compensation settlement after she tripped over a pallet in a stock room at the supermarket where she worked.

The woman was entering the stock room when the accident happened. She was unable to see the pallet because it was hidden from view by the door. She was examined by a first-aider before being taken home.

As a result of her fall, she was absent from work for three weeks. The accident had worsened a pre-existing osteoarthritic condition and she continued to experience pain in her back and hip. She eventually had to move to a different role within the company as manual work made her symptoms worse.

It transpired that some of her colleagues had had similar accidents. However, it was only after her accident that the company put up signs warning employees not to obstruct the entrance to the stock room.

She commenced a personal injury claim against her employer and a compensation settlement has now been agreed.
